It's Inauguration Day!
It started @ 5:00 a.m. I found myself on the National Mall @ 5:45 a.m. shivering for the next 12 hours....on my feet!
I stood with people from all walks of life, different cultures, and from all nations, ready to witness the historical moment of our first African-American President of the United States of America being sworn into the most powerful position of the free world. The swelling crowd was respectful of each other's discomfort (cold, tired, and hungry); they were joyfully tearful of the realization that a vision has come to fruition; and we were all inspired by the speech, "A New Birth of Freedom".
Rev. Rick Warren led an anointed Invocation--except when he called out little S A S H A's name in slow motion, as if he were narrating a segment for The Lion King....Saaaashhhhaahh! He sagaciously prayed that President Obama "be given wisdom to lead with humility, courage to lead with integrity, and compassion to lead with generosity." Love that!
Areatha delivered a soul-stirring rendition of My Country Tis of Thee! We all stood in awe, along with Oprah, P. Diddy, and Govenor Schwarzenegger, as we transformed into hyper-patriotic peeps digesting every word to that traditional tune.
The thunderous and overwhelming response following Chief Justice Roberts administration of the oath of office, reminded all of us of a new day; a new beginning; and an opportunity to "...put away childish things", as quoted by our newly-elected President Obama.
It was an exhilarating AND exhausting day! It was a grand time full of historic moments; one of which will be etched in my memory. Former President Bush and Laura took in their last panoramic view of DC - from their helicopter - while disrespectful "boo's" echoed throughout the National Mall, deferring to "put away those childish things." In an emotional moment, I reflected on the past eight years of his presidency, particularly the devastation of 911 and how it changed our nation. I saluted toward the 'copter and thought to myself, it is indeed "A New Beginning For All!"
May God Bless America; Land That I Love!
BLESSINGS: "Remember not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth...." Isaiah 43:18, 19

I'm almost certain that I saw you on CNN during the recitation of the Lord's Prayer. Of course, you missed a few words. HA! Just kidding! But no, I really do think that was you . . . at least that's what I'm telling my friends.
See you in a few weeks in the warmth, sunshine and sand (i.e., the necessities for mass-therapy) of Florida. :-)

Thank you for letting us feel like we were there with you. What a fantastic opportunity! Who would have guessed that you came from Miami for such a time as this! AMAZING, AMAZING, and truly AMAZING. I love your Blessings of new beginnings and new things. May God continue to Bless America!!
We were wondering if you would be able to be part of history. Fantastic!!! Hope you went home and soaked your feet real good. We watched on TV at the Library during lunch. I say give the guy a fair chance with some reservations about the very liberal stuff. He seems serious and committed. We all hope and pray for the best. It will be fun to talk in Florida. Are you up to the Brunch Lunch on the boat for Sunday and then the Country Club the next Sunday? Its getting close!!
Rev 13: v 4
..In wonderment worshiping, saying 'who is like unto the beast?"...
Yah, you were part of history!
Sea of People is right! Best example of Sheeple you will find !!!
I'd wager that in less than a year there is going to be a lot of disappointed , devastated, angry groups, Democrats and Union workers.
Most intelligent thing he said was , as he signed his "first order"..took the pen, "I'm a lefty"..Profound!

Glad you got home safely..
Hi there glad you had fun! Too bad I had to miss all the t.v programing for that guy. God Bless you and meet you at the point of all you stand in need of in Jesus name amen!
That's a powerful word: FREEDOM!
Congrats - you were part of history. I would have liked to have been there, even with all the peeps. There is something very charismatic and compelling about Obama, I have to admit. I just don’t think Michelle is all that great.
I did manage to be passing a TV right as he was sworn in and noticed the snafu, but it wasn’t really his fault. As soon as he was sworn in, I said something like “well that’s a nice promotion for a junior senator” and was given a few dirty looks.
Anyway, I’ve heard the energy was extremely high in D.C. and that the crowd, for the most part, was very kind.
Here’s to the new president . . . CHEERS and PRAYERS! It’s not an easy job.
