He was our "miracle" baby and was supposed to be a "Jaredette", meaning a "girl". Everyone proclaimed with anticipation that this long-awaited miracle would be a girl. Plans were made, clothes were purchased, and a nursery was decorated for a baby girl D. However, there was one person who was adamant about this baby being a boy! He just knew, against all odds, that this baby was going to be a boy! Afterall, we needed a baby boy to carry on the family name and a girl just wouldn't do. So, as everyone prepared for this cute, frilly pink lassie to arrive, Grandpa D was purchasing blue "It's A Boy!" ribbons.
The day arrived 22 years ago...and...Grandpa D was hanging his blue ribbons on the hospital delivery door. God heard his prayers and delivered a boy to carry on the family name. He was a baby boy of incredible strength who overcame obstacles, our bam-bam, sort of speak.
He represents the D family quite well, I must admit. He's intelligent, handsome, talented, educated, God-loving, and has my kind of taste in wheels...well, he sounds just like me, as a matter of fact. :-)
So, on this very special day, I honor the birth of my nephew -- the one who carries on the family name. Thank you for all you offer to our family and for making us proud.
Oh, and did I mention that he can jazz on the sax better than Clinton!
Love ya, my bro, our miracle! Happy Birthday!
