Today is my father's birthday. A father who most, and foremost, loved God, family, prayer, and bible study! I envision him whistling Highway To Heaven today, on those Streets of Gold, as he knocks on the mansion doors of brothers and sisters in Christ, inviting them to join him in a good, old-fashioned praise and worship to our Almighty King of Kings, and keeping rhythm with that jazzy-n-anointed tambourine.
(This is my pin-stripe-suited father--far right--along with his church buddies....leader of the pack.)
His legacy is rich!
- He overcame difficult family situations as a young boy;
- Marched off to war at 17;
- Scripted sentimental thoughts and prayers to his mama (who would always cook his favorite meals when he came to visit in later years!);
- Married his "Brown-Eyed-Angel", our mama;
- Created fabulous children (that's me! :-);
- Owned successful businesses (he loathed laziness);
- Loved to laugh, fish, and socialize (coffee and "fresh bakery", anyone?);
- Heard and accepted God's calling;
- Attended Bible College;
- Pastored good ol' Pentecostal churches, and coaxed the WHOLE family to the pulpit to sing his favorite song, "Highway To Heaven";
- Conquered attempted defeats by those green with envy;
- Modeled strength to rise above the challenges through much prayer and fasting;
- Fought the good fight of Faith;
- Bragged about all five of his children and grandchildren going to college and serving the Lord (that's me, again :-);
- Loved the Word of God, particularly eschatological studies;
- Distributed spiritual, testimonial tracks everywhere and to everyone;
- And,....Died with dignity....buried in an old, wooden box, per his request. Well, okay, so it was really a beautiful and expensive oak casket....close enough, Dad.
- Now, he lays to rest in one of our country's most honorable National Cemeteries.
He was a man of wisdom who feared the Lord.
He was twice a soldier; a soldier in the army, and a soldier of the Cross! Salute to you, Dad!
I miss you terribly, love you immensely, and am looking to the skies humming, "Happy Birthday To You!" Thank you for being you! You are just as alive in our memories today, as you were in the years leading up to February 23rd, 1991, when you took your last earthly breath, and inhaled the sweet essence of blessed eternity with our Heavenly Father!
We'll all be reunited, once again, hand-in-hand...

Good blog.
He has passed onto us a rich and eternal legacy that makes us all heirs and jointheirs of Jesus Christ and his riches in glory and the pleasures of His right hand forevermore which we cannot even fathom. We must remain faithful, loyal, and true to the absolute truth of the Word of God which never fails and every word will be fulfilled in its time. HE IS LORD!!
