WHO KNEW?
I'm a day late, but I couldn't ignore this little trivia nugget that I googled...United Nation's Day!
BTW: The flag depicts the world held in the "olive branches of peace."
WHO? There are currently 192 members of the United Nations.
WHAT? The UN brings all nations of the world together and is based on the principles of justice, human dignity, and the well-being of all people - - balancing interdependence and national interests.
WHEN? UN Day is celebrated around the world on October 24th and came into existence in October of 1945.
WHERE? The UN building is located in NYC - tours are available - Let's go, Peeps! You know me....I love travel and anything global, cultural, and international! But, first stop is Macy's on 34th and Carnegie Deli for lunch (celeb hang-out)!
WHY? The UN promotes PEACE and development.
BLESSINGS: "Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord." Zechariah 8: 22

Who knew? is right. Cool idea, though!
Been there - very high security, obviously. It is considered its own city within NYC, like a fortress. It is on international soil, not US soil, even though it is in NYC. It's right on the East River, across from Brooklyn and Queens.
You probably know this and more being that you are a "remote" NYC girl! Weren't you gonna live on Roosevelt Island in Manhattan, right across from the UN? In fact, this was probably your view from your living room?
Yep - This was the view from the living room and bedroom. $$$
See the Chrysler building peeking through in the background? Reminds me of the "Little Orphan Annie" production when she sings, "It's A Hard Knocks Life", and the old crouchy orphan-mom beckons them to clean the floors so they "shine like the top of the Chrysler building."
I hope that production makes its trek back to The Great White Way! There is rumor that it will be an annual Christmas production on Broadway, much like Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Hope so! I'm there!
Shine on!

Hey, we're two months away from Christmas, as of today! Macy's shopping?
I'll mark my calendar - thanks for the reminder, my dear peep!
Yep, a stop at Macy's, a pic with Santa, a Central Park carriage ride (with furry blankets), and hot cocoa and chestnuts from the street vendor, are in order!

Carnegie Deli???
They have the best and biggest roast beef 'wiches in the whole world - great stuff, man! I ate a whole one all by myself once. BURP!
And, the pickles are to die for, right? Those pickles could be a meal in and of themselves.
Oh, didja know that Regis Philbin hangs out there for lunch? No wonder he's had heart probs. That place will clog your arteries, but it's worth it - - because, then you hit the streets of NYC, and walk it all off. So there!
I'll meetcha there - bon appetit! (Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!)
