Sisters, Sisters B'day Tribute!

"Sisters, Sisters - There were never such devoted sisters, Never had to have a chaperone, No sir, I'm here to keep my eye on her. Caring, sharing, All kinds of weather, we stick together, The same in the rain and sun, Two different faces, but in tight places, We think and we act as one, Those who have seen us, Know that not a thing could come between us, Many men have tried to split us up, but no one can, Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister, And Lord help the sister, who comes between me and my man"

Now, this lyric isn't exactly how we operate, but it provides the essence of what our sisterly relationship is like- it's our theme song from White Christmas. And, at Christmastime, you will hear us singing our hearts out to this sisterly and seasonal tune.

Yes, we are "devoted sisters" who comically act and think as one", especially when it comes to the gift of humor. If there ever was anyone who could make me laugh 'til my belly button twitched, it's my sister. She and I can laugh 'til our faces are completely distorted and everyone will else will just look at us. But, we don't care...we add another little quip or smirk and it starts all over. Wait until our "Poops in the Pew" book is published. You'll be laughing with us.

She is "caring" when it comes to having a heart for the wounded and infirm, and is "sharing" of her resources, time, and home during the fun Christmas Eve get-togethers; and, during those fun North Heights Christmas productions when her little head gear piece caught on fire. Yoiks, Baby Jesus almost turned into a crispy cheetos. (sorry folks, that is an inside joke when we replaced baby Jesus with a cheesy cheeto's in mom's beautifully decorated and ornate Nativity set. The dog ate it, uh, baby cheesy-Jesus, that is. bwaahaahaaaa! Faithy said we were being sacrilegious which, of course, made us laugh even more. Oh, sorry! We're 4-given, now.

"In all kinds of weather, we stick together" and seem to know exactly what the other may need emotionally. I think back to when our father passed away and the tremendous comfort that she gave me when we had to take him to emergency care, and eventually meet again at the foot of his death bed 24-hours later; Sharon's simple but profound act of a loving, tender, and loooong hug and sharing of tears somehow made me feel like my father was hugging me and saying it will be alright - I'm off to a better place...Soon and very soon. ***sniffles*** (She was my lily in my valley.)

"Two different faces, but in tight places" can be translated as us being two very different people, often on opposite ends of the spectrum on things, but tight when it comes to comic relief, enjoyment of life, and ambition. We have an innate understanding of each other's goals and how we want to be perceived. Oh, and don't even think you're going to try and pull one over on us- we're on to you!

"Many men have tried to split us" - Well, not really. Perhaps it should be "All too few men have tried to split us." :) BUT, "Lord help the sister who comes between me and my man!!!" Or should I say, "Lord help the mister who comes between me and my sister(s)", at this stage in our lives.

So, the Rose of Sharon is celebrating her birthday today! You are loved, admired, and favored by God. May you walk under His umbrella of incredible blessing and accomplishments this next year!

Sister, Sister! Thank you for being my sister, the lily in the valley, dad's inspiration to the 'Rose of Sharon' Bible Camp dream, and for your comedic relief. Happy Birthday, Beautiful Sister!!! We're blessed.

Blessing: "I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys." Song of Solomon 2:1

Happy Birthday from the third sister! The fun is always complete when Sharon is there. She has a sense of humor that is her own and can explode at the least expected times and when Laura is a part of it you have a dynamic comedy duo. She also loves to collect nostalgic antiques which bring back memories of days gone by and she is a voracious reader. Would love to see the new do for the new you!
