Nope, it's not what you think. "Big Brother" describes that generous, loyal, Godly, hospitable, and protective adonis.
Okay, now you know that the title of this blog is somewhat deceiving, huh? The above-mentioned is obviously not the description of the tax-collecting BIG BROTHER!
May I introduce you to the D-sisters Big Brother, Gary, our (insert all the adjectives above) one, and only brother. And, today is his birthday. He was the oldest sibling, meaning I was still crawling in diapers when he left for Northwest Bible College in Minot, ND; the wild, wild (North)west! (I was the babe***oh wait*** I mean, "baby" of this fab fam - yup - I admit it. Okay, I like "babe" better!) He doesn't look his age. In fact, he still looks my age of babe-licious 28. :-)
We are blessed to have a God-honoring, family-providing, church-loving, hard-working, money-making and giving, brother! When I think of Gary (and Marcia), I think of them meeting the financial and spiritual needs of others. He has the gift of helps and BLESSINGs! He has blessed and been blessed. He purchases groceries for strangers who stand in front of him in the grocery line (I'm gonna try to be one of those strangers someday); gives furniture away to those in need; prays for people; demonstrates compassion; studies and ministers God's word in song and scripture; opens his "sitt'n on the Ritz" home to all. Oh, and way back when, he served as the church chauffeur by picking up all the, ahem, Methusaleh-old, P'costal church sistahs in dad's big ol' VW van, for services . bwaaahaaahaaa! (oh, sorry) You hated it, they loved it! :-)
I am proud of you! I love you! And, I shamelessly boast about how terrific you are. Thanks for the "horsey-rides" and for sharing the excitement of Christmas when you'd lay on the floor - belly down - and my three-year-old spunky self would climb up and sit on your back. We'd get lost in Santa Claus, er, I mean, baby Jesus thoughts; staring at the Christmas tree, as the latest and greatest, 60's-inspired color-wheel would illuminate the Christmas tree with muliple colors. The snow would kiss the windowpane as mom's Bing Crosby "White Christmas" album would serenade us from our sophisticated phonograph (what's that?). Memories! You are worth more than an investment portfolio of, ahem, some million(s)! :-O um, my goal is to catch up with ya, BIG, rich (in the Lord, of course) BROTHER! :-)
One more thing, Big Brother! I still think you should have won NorthwestBC's superlative for Most Intelligent over Dakota-boy-Daffe, with all due respect. But, hey, you were runner-up! You're still Most Intelligent in my book. Afterall, you strategized how to get off the hook when you set off the smoke bomb in that there boy's dorm! I know, I know....no one knows it was you and J. Black, or was that, B. Frazier?! shhhhhhh! I won't tell anyone!
Big-Brother Blessing: Today, my dear bother, I pray God's richest blessings on you and yours. May His Divine favor rest upon you! May He bestow blessings on you as you have blessed us, Big Brother!
"But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." James 1:25
Happy Birthday, Big Brother! (Click the B'day jingle to the right - it's not the GL quartet, but close enough)
